A side hustle is essentially a hobby with benefits. It’s a great way to make some extra money in your spare time whilst also doing something that you enjoy.

There are many side hustles available and each of them have their pros and cons. Some are more rewarding than others, some are more time consuming than others. Regardless, all of them provide the same outcome – extra income.

Here’s our list of our favourite side hustles:

1.Competitions

It comes as no surprise that this comes in at number one.

Entering competitions is easy. It’s also free, fun and has the potential to have life-changing capabilities. Whether, that’s winning a; cash prize, car, holiday or perhaps experiencing something that no-one else has.

Nothing beats that winning feeling. Our stats have shown that the win percentage for competitions is between 1-3%.

CompSpot members are also able to track each and every comp they have entered. Not only that, you will be rewarded for every competition you add too by being entered into the prize draw.

2. Matched Betting

Not many people even know that this exists. And many of those who have heard about it think it’s some sort of scam, or is just gambling. It’s not.

If we weren’t so biased about competitions, matched betting would be top of this list. Why?

  1. It’s relatively easy.
  2. It’s very profitable.
  3. It’s nice to take money of the corporate bookmakers.
In a nutshell, it’s basically taking advantage of bookmakers. Yes, you read that correctly. Using their promotions and incentives to guarantee a profit regardless of the outcome.

3. Sell Arts/Crafts

If you love being creative and have a passion for making things Etsy might be perfect for you.

Etsy is a global marketplace which allows you to sell many types of creative goods including; jewellery, clothing, invitations, wedding cards or party supplies. All it take is 20 cents (USD) to get started.

Chase your artistic dreams whilst making money from your efforts!

4.Digital Freelance

Ever thought about becoming a virtual assistant or a voiceover artist? Perhaps you’re a great blogger or can design logos? Whatever skills you have, Fiverr is a great place to showcase your talents and get paid handsomely.

It works just like an online notice-board. You post up the service that you have to offer and potential employers will then get in touch.

We’ve used Fiverr a lot over the years (the CompPoints logo was designed by someone there) and it is really simple and safe to use.

The range of tasks on offer – and in demand – is huge, so you will probably find something that you can do. If you don’t, then you could consider taking an online course with Udemy. Once you have acquired some new skills you can then offer them to the world!

5.Sell old stuff

It’s time to clear out the garage! There’s a reason it’s only one letter away from garbage because that’s what we tend keep in it! Declutter and make some cash whilst doing it!

Gumtree, EBay and Facebook marketplace are great for getting rid of stuff you no longer need or want. One persons rubbish is another persons treasure.

You have an eye for value, you could also start buying items from second-hand stores and selling them for a profit online.
